Los astronautas Bob Behnken y Doug Hurley despegaron este sábado del Centro Espacial Kennedy en Florida a bordo de un cohete de SpaceX, primera vez que una empresa privada de Estados Unidos logra concretar una misión de esta naturaleza para la NASA.

El cohete Falcon 9, de la compañía creada por Elon Musk, despegó según lo previsto a las 15H22 (19H22 GMT), y los primeros minutos de su ascenso transcurrieron sin inconvenientes, según la transmisión en directo que realiza la agencia espacial de Estados Unidos.

La primera etapa del cohete se separó de acuerdo al programa después de dos minutos de vuelo, cuando la nave ascendía a una velocidad de cerca de 4.000 km/h, dejando a la cápsula Crew Dragon en la órbita adecuada para llegar a su destino, la Estación Espacial Internacional, impulsada por la segunda etapa del cohete.
La cápsula Dragon está en la órbita correcta para llegar a la Estación Espacial Internacional.
El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, que asistió el sábado desde el Centro Espacial Kennedy, en Florida, al histórico lanzamiento de un cohete SpaceX con dos astronautas a bordo, describió un despegue "increíble".
“Verdadera genialidad, nadie hace esto como nosotros”, estimó.
